1) What let a planet host life ?

A/ The caracteristics of the planetary system auround which the planet orbits
There are several categories of star. The ones wich can host life are the stars of the classes F, G and K.
But some scientists say that red dwarfs could also host life.
Finaly, the star must not have big differences of luminosity. Overwise, it would kill life.
B/ The characteristics of the planet
First, the planet has to be rocky, made out of rocks, not gaz.
Then, its weight must be important enought to let an atmosphere apear.
And the orbit and rotation of the planet have to be adapted, to have good temperatures and diversity.
The study of
science-fiction worlds
Aldebaran

The planet Aldebaran is inspired by a true planet which name is Aldebaran-4 and its star is Aldebaran.
We need more informations about the true Aldebaran to know if it can host life, but according to Léo, it is quite a nice place to live with maily aquatic life.
Interstellar
In Interstellar, three planets are presented:
- Doc Muller's planet : it has huge waves which distroy everything and isn't deep enought to let bacterias appear.
- Doc Mann's planet : it is very cold and has a lot of Amoniac in it atmosphere
- Doc Edmund's planet : it is rocky and human can breath.
Star Wars
In Star Wars, George Lucas uses planets that we know and modifies them so that they can host life.
- Kamino is an ocean so it can be linked to Europa or Encelade which are also ocean but under ice form.
- Tatooine has two stars, which is the case for most of the stars in the universe.
